Mark Wood replaces fellow seamer Ollie Robinson in England’s only change for the final Test against India in Dharamsala starting on Thursday.
Robinson struggled with a back injury during the fourth-Test defeat and did not bowl in India’s second innings.
Jonny Bairstow will become the 17th man to play 100 Tests for England.
England trail 3-1 in the series, the first they lost since Ben Stokes was appointed captain almost two years ago.
Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley and off-spinner Shoaib Bashir retain their places as England opt against picking three specialist fast bowlers despite the cool conditions in Dharamsala, which sits in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Bashir missed training on Wednesday because of a stomach upset.
England team for fifth Test: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (capt), Ben Foakes (wk), Tom Hartley, Mark Wood, James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir.
