Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama won the Genesis Invitational after an incredible fightback in the final round.
His nine-under 62 to secure victory was one shot shy of the course record at the Riviera Country Club.
The 2021 Masters champion, 31, started the day six shots behind leader Patrick Cantlay but finished 17 under par to claim his ninth PGA Tour title.
Cantlay finished in fourth, behind Will Zalatoris and Luke List.
The American trio were stunned by Matsuyama, who started the day with three birdies and added six more in the back nine to all but secure his victory.
“I wasn’t striking the ball really well but my chipping and putting was working a lot this week,” said Matsuyama.
“It’s really important for me to keep this momentum, especially going to Augusta.”
Zalatoris and List both finished with -14 while Cantlay was tied for fourth on -13 with American Xander Schauffele and Canada’s Adam Hadwin.
Englishman Tommy Fleetwood finished in a five-way tie for 10th after closing with a 67, while world number two Rory McIlroy finished in joint 24th with a final round of 70.
“I think that I’m close. I’m not quite where I want to be,” McIlroy told CBS News.
“It’s one of these courses where you know that precision is so important and putting your ball in the right areas. If you’re just slightly off, your weaknesses sort of get magnified this week.”
The US PGA Tour continues with the Mexico Open on 22 February.
