Surfers have been racing from all over the world to California’s famous Mavericks Beach, to catch huge waves brought by a storm battering the US West Coast.
Waves up to 70ft (21 meters) have been ridden at the beach, which has become a legendary location for surfers.
There had been a high surf warning in place, to discourage people from coming to the area but surfers from all around the world have been making the trip.
Officials have warned onlookers to stay away from the shore after people were injured by huge rogue waves.
The National Weather Service (NWS) warned of “extremely dangerous conditions” and noted that “powerful waves and life-threatening rip currents pose an exceptional risk of ocean drowning and damage to coastal structures”.
